FILMTOWNDOGS

A photography book about music subculture and it’s surrounding world in Helsinki, Finland. The book was photographed during the summer of 2022. Nighttime adventures and encounters with creatures reveal something colourful. It’s a raw and colorful depiction of people and friends in a cultural field where the focus is on creation, community and madness. 

The photos were taken using double exposure on Kodak vision3 movie film. This overlapping technique allowed for the creation of a vibrant emotional world and narrative. Love, sweat, substances, blood, eternal youth, and a deep-seated love for the culture that emerges from the underground. “Filmtowndogs” is a collaborative work by me and photographer Maxie Madisson, where we shot the pictures on top of each others films, and it also tells the story of two photographers working intuitivily together and reflecting on eachother through similar, small point and shoot film cameras (Ricoh TF-900). Smells like cigarettes.
